Craft Beer & Food Festival

The ONLY dedicated craft beer festival in the Cowichan Valley

Cowichan Valley, BC - The Craft Beer and Food Festival presents its first ever event within the Cowichan Valley on August 6, 2016 at Waterwheel Park in Chemainus, BC. The Craft Beer & Food Festival hosts a large selection of Vancouver Island and Vancouver region breweries plus a selection of artisanal food pairings from local establishments. Tickets will also allow entry to the Velvet Rut Festival, which is running alongside the event.

The Craft Beer & Food Festival is unique in the Cowichan Valley because its focus, aside from food, is exclusively on the craft beer movement — the first and only festival of its kind. Why is it the first? Typically, beer events held within the Cowichan Valley feature a high ticket price while only inviting a few local breweries and/or bringing in spirits and ciders. This event, unlike any other, features only craft beer and artisan food. Price point accessibility was a key consideration when planning this event. To meet this requirement, tickets will be offered at a pre-sale price of $19 (ends mid-July), as regular admission rates are $25. Each ticket will allow for entry into the Craft Beer & Food Festival as well as the Velvet Rut Music Festival, six tasting tokens, a keepsake glass (for the first 250 tickets sold), and the opportunity to WIN an Apple iPad donated by Telus. Created for patrons from central to south Vancouver Island, organizers are working with multiple transportation companies in major urban locations such as Duncan, Nanaimo and Victoria/Langford, to secure shuttles to and from the event. As part of the directive to promote craft beer culture, an industry-only tasting and talk for brewers and representatives will also be hosted (see below for more details).

“This is the only truly craft beer focused event within the Cowichan Valley. Some of the best, hand selected breweries in the region will be in attendance showcasing both their regular and seasonal products. We are committed to ensuring a low ticket price to make it accessible for all,“ says Krystal Adams, Festival organizer and Marketing Coordinator to the Chemainus Business Improvement Area. Aly Tomlin, support organizer of the event and co-founder of Riot Brewing Co. adds, “This event is for those who love craft beer. Chemainus will be proud to host an annual event like this.”

Promoting Beer Culture - To aid in fostering knowledge for representatives within the Craft Beer industry, Joe Wiebe — published craft beer author and expert — will be leading an industry tasting and talk held in advance of the event.
